The Ghost Nebula (designated van den Bergh 141 or Sharpless 136) is a molecular cloud in the western section of the constellation Cepheus. It belongs to the Cepheus Flare region, a large complex of molecular clouds in the Milky Way. The cloud contains a globule at its eastern edge with several infrared sources, which are protostars, and an associated jet. The distance of the structure is uncertain, estimates vary between about 250 and 550 parsecs. The globule and its jet, pointing upwards (north), can be seen quite easily in this image in the left (eastern) part of the main nebula.
There are several stars embedded, whose emissions make the nebula shine in a brownish colour.
